An experiment administered by Dr. John Heinz of Stanford University has shown that Mac users have a lower IQ than PC users by 15%. Over 6,000 participants have been tested and there is clear evidence that people with lower IQs tend to gravitate towards using a Mac. This is disturbing news to say the least, "I am typing up this post on a Mac."

It has always been believed that Mac users were better educated and more tech savvy. This is actually the opposite of what was shown from this study. Mac users when quizzed on basic technical questions only got 75% of the questions correct with PC users getting 83% correct. PC users also had 4% higher grades.

Dr. John Heinz gives the following 2 reasons for this the low IQ of Mac users

1) Mac users tend to buy a machine strickly for looks and style. They have no ideas of the computers actual capabilities. They are basically attracted to cool collars and wavy lines.

2) Mac users are left brained and tend to be more artistic, but low on mathematics and reasoning.


I emailed Dr. Heinz to see if I could get a little more info from him. I'm a Mac user so this subject is personal. I asked him if its possible that the sample size was too small or if his test subjects were picked in some bias way. He assured me that everything is fine and just because I had a Mac that this didn't mean I was stupid. He said that simply the people with higher IQs would buy a PC 9 out of 10 times, but there are plenty of smart people who use Macs. So does that mean I'm smart, but I use the dumb mans machine?
